As you might expect of any charitable or non-profit making organisation, Dereham Men’s Shed relies on its supporters.

We are extremely grateful to Dereham Baptist Church where we hold our weekly meetings while we look for a more permanent place within the Dereham area to call home. Currently we are able to have talks given by our members on a particular interest or as recently a very interesting talk about coal mining in the north-east of England in the 1940 / 50 from one of our members who started working in the mines on leaving school at 15. This personal story was riveting.

We are now looking to put all the essentials in place to allow us to officially launch our new ‘Shed’ and are looking to gather support from local businesses in and around Dereham who can help us with this process.

One of the many things we plan doing is to ‘up-cycle’ furniture which can be used to help local charities, such as those supporting furnishing properties. We have already been offered unsaleable items from Age Concern which could be converted into usable items.

Our top five of things we are looking for are:

  • Suitable premises which can be used primarily as a small workshop along with a separate area suitable to hold meetings and presentations for around 30 people.
  • Financial Support.
  • Tools and Equipment.
  • Materials and Fixings.
  • Safety Equipment (Personal Protective Equipment).
