Our Men’s Shed has re-opened its doors for the New Year and we all are looking forward to the coming year. We meet every Wednesday between 2.00 and 4.00 PM in the Dereham Baptist Church off the High Street.
Come along for a cup of tea and a chat and make some new friends.
Over the past few weeks our Rash’s Green workshop has neared completion, only one more worktop to be fitted and some extra storage units to be sourced and fitted. Our Men’s Shed has benefitted from the kind donation of some tools to equip the workshop. One of our members, Alan Hill, has kindly donated a wood turning lathe, and one of our neighbours in the Rash’s Green industrial estate, Micky B (the motor engineering company), has donated a range of hand power tools for use by members. During our weekly meetings we attempt to provide a focus of interest for members, this is achieved by short talks, demonstrations, and have-a-go activities. Our the past few months these have included: Calligraphy and Lettering; Wood Carving; Glass Cutting; Photographic imaging using ‘Lightroom’; Growing and looking after Fuchsia plants; Making some planters for the community.
Further activities are being planned for the New Year and hope to include: a visit to Fransham Forge, a visit to the Mid-Norfolk Railway, Bee Keeping, a presentation on Climate change to name a few.
